the sonics and the hives!

I had been looking forward to seeing The Sonics for months. I guess the thing about aging musicians is they sometimes prefer to be remembered the way they were. I have to respect that, so in lieu of featuring our heroes for the LWMB this week, I featured a group who not only adore The Sonics, but have used their grinding hits of yesteryear as inspiration for spearheading the garage rock revival. The Hives. How awesome is it that they flew to NYC for one-night only, just to see this show. Lucky me, I got to dance, drink and take some photos of the uber tall and handsome swedes.

Morrissey

October 22nd, 2007, NYC, Hammerstein Ballroom. Morrissey played to a sold out crowd of only the most dedicated fans, a few nights before he fired supporting act, Kristeen Young.  It was cool to see the Mozzer do a bunch of Smiths songs.  He  started the set with “Stop Me”.

The JackieRoman.com Legacy

Hello friends!  Just wanted to let you all know what’s going on here.  I’ve switched formats for my photo blog.  You will still be able to visit the old site, in all of it’s slow loading glory through the sidebar over there, just click on “JackieRoman.com LEGACY Rock n’ Roll photos 2006-2007″.  As an experiment, I put one of those hit counter thingys on my opening page, turns out on average over 500 hits per month!  Thank you 1,000x over.  I’m honestly surprised (and horrified at the same time) that so many people have stumbled across my humble little photo blog.  It made me realize I need to do a little cleaning house.
